Tiger Woods: Golf, Gossip, and … Grants?

Tiger Woods is all over the news, but what does he have to do with grants?

Quite a lot, as it turns out.

Because Tiger Woods is about more than great golf and steamy gossip. Tiger Woods, like thousands of other wealthy individuals, funnels a substantial sum of money into his personal foundation. In turn, the foundation gives grants to organizations that offer services to young people, as well as scholarships to students in his mother’s native Thailand.

Blues great John Lee Hooker didn’t make the billions Tiger has generated, but he, too, left money in a foundation that supports grassroots organizations for disadvantaged children. Name a person who has achieved a level of financial success, and cares about other people, and you may find a source of grants.
