New Grants from Pepsi

Now here’s a refreshing idea.  Pepsi, the soft drink giant, has established a grants program.  If you’ve been on my mailing list for a while, or read earlier blog posts, you know that most large companies offer grants.   What’s unique about Pepsi’s program is that they are inviting the public to vote and help the company choose deserving grant recipients.

Here’s how it works.  Every month throughout 2010, you are invited to submit your proposal online for a worthy project.  You can request $5,000, $25,000, $50,000 or $250,000.  While you’re on the site, you can also vote for projects you support.  And, of course, if you’ve submitted a grant proposal, you can encourage all your supporters to vote for you.  When the voting period is over, Pepsi announces the recipients, then the next cycle begins.  Pepsi has set aside $1.3 million in grant funding.
