Grants for Web 2.0
By Jillian Wheeler | May 8, 2008
Unless you’ve spent the last two years living in a Tibetan monastery, you know that social networking – like MySpace, Facebook, and a gazillion similar sites – is the hottest thing on the Internet. It’s transforming the way people, and especially young people, connect with one another.
If I needed any confirmation of this, I got it when I discovered this government grant program:
The Corporation for National and Community Service is giving twelve grants of $100,00 to $750,000 ($2.3 million total) “to support the facilitation of better engagement of college students in service through social media.” The grants are for projects lasting one to three years, and they are encouraging recipients to offer sub-grants of $10,000 or more, to seed student-driven projects.
Ideal recipients would be a partnership of a community non-profit and a university, or even a student organization sponsored by a university. The ultimate purpose of the grants is to support a significant increase in student volunteerism.
Think how much fun it could be to design a program like that. Someone may even create a whole new online community focused on volunteer opportunities and activities for students.
If you have a brilliant idea, and you need the money to make it reality, there could be a grant waiting for you. To find your grant, start with our Grants Training Classes.
Because of exceptionally high demand for the earlier Spring classes, we are opening a special class that begins in May.
And because we’re offering unprecedented pricing for this class, it’s the perfect opportunity for you to participate at a significant discount.

Most Americans are getting a little financial boost this tax season, from the Economic Stimulus Package payments we’ll receive either electronically or in check form.
Its’ a great time to invest in yourself, and a great time to start the process of creating wealth for yourself and your family.
And what a great incentive: an unusually low price for this class!

People from all over the world take these classes, and learn how to write grants for their projects. Many students will become Certified Grant Writers, and pursue a career as a consultant, or working for an organization.
