Christmas Trees Around the World

There is something mesmerizing about a Christmas tree.

I love to just sit in the dark and enjoy the lights on our tree. It’s covered in memories, ornaments (many much the worse for wear) made over the years by my children and grandchildren, or chosen to remind us of special occasions or beloved pets.

After Dempsey and I put up the tree and put on the lights, we have a family get-together. The youngest kids are home from college, and they and the grandchildren hang all the ornaments. The little ones love to carefully pick up and look at something their mother made when she was their age, then find just the right spot to display it on the tree. When they’re done, we have a casual meal. We all sit in the family room and admire the finished product. It’s one of my favorite little family traditions.
